Call to Action, September 11

Call to Action    September 11

Americans are taught to respond to circumstances but in many societies, people are taught to wait for instructions.  On this date, Sept 11, 12 years ago, a group of men on Flight 93 did what Americans do.  They knew they were probably going to die.  Instead of letting circumstances dictate when and where, they took action.

They called their families and said their good-by’s.  In an instant, Todd Beamer responded to the American tradition.  Upon telling his wife good by, the last words she heard as he hung up, he looked at his friends and told them, “Let’s Roll”.  They then went on the attack in the plane, call-sign Flight 93.

The plane that crashed in Pennsylvania would have probably gone to Washington DC.  In rolling into action, Todd Beamer and his friends saved the lives of many in Washington.  Rarely are we called to give up our lives to save many.  Be thankful we live in a society that we honor such action.

Todd Beamer and his friends will live in history for taking action.  May we all feel the call to action if called upon.  I pray God’s blessings on the families of Flight 93, especially Todd Beamer and friends.
