1 Samuel 17: 46-51

45David said to the Philistine, "You come against me with sword and spear and javelin, but I come against you in the name of the LORD Almighty, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied.46This day the LORD will hand you over to me, and I'll strike you down and cut off your head. Today I will give the carcasses of the Philistine army to the birds of the air and the beasts of the earth, and the whole world will know that there is a God in Israel.47All those gathered here will know that it is not by sword or spear that the LORD saves; for the battle is the LORD's, and he will give all of you into our hands."48As the Philistine moved closer to attack him, David ran quickly toward the battle line to meet him.49Reaching into his bag and taking out a stone, he slung it and struck the Philistine on the forehead. The stone sank into his forehead, and he fell facedown on the ground.50So David triumphed over the Philistine with a sling and a stone; without a sword in his hand he struck down the Philistine and killed him.51David ran and stood over him. He took hold of the Philistine's sword and drew it from the scabbard. After he killed him, he cut off his head with the sword. When the Philistines saw that their hero was dead, they turned and ran.

For David, killing the Giant was 'in the bag', a guaranteed homerun, a three pointer from the other end of the court.

Just think,
He had God on His side,
was annointed, and
had slung rocks all his life protecting his sheep.

He knew He was good.  He was the Micky Mantel of Home Runs and the Michael Jordan of Rock throwers of his day.  But, best of all, He knew He was better with God.

We all have our own skills, our own gifts, and our special capabilities to serve God.

When we accept Christ into our lives, pray and live in a humble obedient repentant state in our God-given faith, we have the Holy Spirit to lead us in all we do.

We just have faith in the Holy Spirit to lead us to where we have to be.

Jesus Walks on the Water

Matthew 14:22-33pp -- Mk 6:45-51; Jn 6:16-21 14:34-36pp -- Mk 6:53-56

22Immediately Jesus made the disciples get into the boat and go on ahead of him to the other side, while he dismissed the crowd.23After he had dismissed them, he went up on a mountainside by himself to pray. When evening came, he was there alone,24but the boat was already a considerable distance from land, buffeted by the waves because the wind was against it.25During the fourth watch of the night Jesus went out to them, walking on the lake.26When the disciples saw him walking on the lake, they were terrified. "It's a ghost," they said, and cried out in fear.27But Jesus immediately said to them: "Take courage! It is I. Don't be afraid."28"Lord, if it's you," Peter replied, "tell me to come to you on the water."29"Come," he said. Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus.

For the longest time, I had thoughts about Jesus and the Bible I wanted to share.  I am sorry it took me a year to feel the courage of the Holy Spirit before I began these publications.  Be like Peter, have courage, step out of the boat in the middle of the storm, feel the Holy Spirit lead you to doing great things for Christ.

We do not have to kill Giants like David, but perhaps our greatest giant we have is ourselves and our fears.  "Do not be afraid" said Jesus.

Listen to the voice of my experience.  Our most serious giant in life and what we have to kill is our fear of failure!  Believe in Jesus, Trust God, live in Repentance, and have no hindering fears; let the Holy Spirit guide you in choosing your goals wisely, persue them relentlessly, and never ever give up.  And failure, just let failure become a stepping stone to greater success.

Thanks be to God.
