Do Not Worry

6:25-33pp -- Lk 12:22-31

25"Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes?26Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?27Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his lifeb ?28"And why do you worry about clothes? See how the lilies of the field grow. They do not labor or spin.29Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these.30If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith?31So do not worry, saying, 'What shall we eat?' or 'What shall we drink?' or 'What shall we wear?'32For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them.33But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.34Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.

Each and every day, we must remember to count our blessings rather than our Problems, Issues, and Troubles (PITs). Most of the The PITs we live in are often self generated in over-reaching and over-extending ourselves in what we think we can and desire to do.  Most of this is done in selfishness.  But, time is on our side. One day at a time doing what we can do is all we can do.   In getting into 'trouble' through our over-reaching, over-extending, and over-committing ourselves we find ourselves in worry, depression, and self-pity.  When we fail to live in God's Ways and find ourselves in the PITs of our lives and in all our circumstances, we have to let go and let God through the Holy Spirit guide us to a better landing.

Sometimes we just have to plug along seeking Strength from the Holy Spirit to guide us through our PITs and seek to unplug from our PITs.

Jesus tells us not to worry in Matthew 6, tomorrow is another day to work on the PITs, and our experience is Time heals many of our PITs.  We just have to bear the time and most things will work ourselves out to a better circumstance.  With the Holy Spirit's Guidance, we just have to keep doing what we can do and Trust God to help us through the rest of our PITs.  Trusting God and having Faith-our Personal Relationship with God may not change our circumstances, but our Faith and Trust will change us, improve us, help our vision, and thus, add to our Relationship with God.

But, we must not and cannot worry, because it is sinful; and this is difficult because we like to be in-control.  In our worry we focus on what we can do and fail to ask God for help.  Regardless of  the source of our PITs, in our self-centered desire to solve our PITs and leave God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit our of the solution we are sinful.  Our PITs then become our barrier to trusting God!   Any barrier to our truly trusting God is Sinful.  Verse 33 above is one of the Great Commands of Jesus, "seek the Kingdom".  Failure to do so is our self-imposed sinfulness.  But God is always ready to help us.  We simply repent, turn back to God, and Trust.  It may take time to change our circumstances, but the Holy Spirit will guide you through.

In all our circumstances, we must Pray, we must even ask for prayers as it shows Faith in God.  When we do, many fruits of our prayers will come to us. Pray for your Peace, Patience, and Self-control to be abundant in overcoming your PITs.  In so doing, Joy will be in abundance and maybe Happiness will come sit with you too.  But in all circumstances Pray.

Thanks Be to God
