Random Thoughts on Remembering, or the Lack Of

Random Thoughts                                  Return to Main Menu
on Remembering

For my younger readers and
my readers who think they have not experienced some of this,
this is prophecy for you, your time is coming:

It is really frustrating to find things exactly where they are supposed to be after spending far to much time looking for them.

It is frustrating to be looking for something and
then forget what you are looking for.  But, worse,
It is supremely frustrating to go look for something and
when I get to where I am going, I have
           forgotten why it is
             I am where I am.
    Then
            The frustration continues when
I return to where I started and then
remember the reason I had left!

It is frustrating
to see someone I have not seen for a long time, and
  they call me by name,
they recall something about our mutual past,
and I still do not have a clue as to who they are.

It is frustrating to have forgotten simple things
that you know you once knew.

It is frustrating to think I remember something, but
not be really sure what exactly it is
  I am trying to remember.

Why is it, that I lose something,
cannot remember where I put it, and
  when I finally find it,
THEN remember that is where I put it.

Memories are great
if you can remember that you have them.

Sometimes in my frustration about remembering,
I think I have forgotten more than I have ever known.
Other times, ....... I think I am sure of it.

I am real good at remembering faces, and
Oh, I am the best at remembering names......
           but the problem is
I often cannot do it at the same time
.

Finally, it is frustrating
that I have experienced all of this and
worse,  it is so frustrating that
I can remember that I have experienced all of this!

If some of these do not seem possible, just think about
what you have to look forward to.

Hmmmm.... This writing once was much longer until I read it enough to see that I had repeated myself several times.

I hope I have not published all of this in a past writing.

BUT,
one thing I know for sure,
and I pray that
in my last breath on this earth,
I still remember and pray:
          Jesus loves me,
          This I KNOW, for
           The Bible Tells me So.
The thing about faith is
we do not have to remember,
    Through our prayers,
God builds our faith in our hearts
We just have to remember and practice
        Trusting Him.

Thanks be to God,
lonnie

Here are a few thoughts about remembering.  If you do not remember that these have happened to you then you can read about what you have to look forward to, or to remember.  If you are over 5 years old, you should remember that some of this has happened to you, maybe,..... remember.

Why We have Memorial Day in the USA

Why We have Memorial Day
 in the USA
                                                                                                     Return to Main Menu
This is just one reason
we set aside a day to
honor and remember
our veterans.

Receipent- Medal of Honor
The Medal of Honor is the highest award for bravery that can be bestowed on a United States Service man or woman.

Citation to accompany the award:

Jimmy W Phipps

Rank and Organization:
Private First Class, U.S. Marine Corps,
Company B, 1st Engineer Battalion,
1st Marine Division (Rein), FMF

Place and Date:
Near An Hoa, Republic of Vietnam, 27 May 1969

Citation: For conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity at the risk of his life above and beyond the call of duty while serving as a combat engineer with Company B in connection with combat operations against the enemy.

Pfc. Phipps was a member of a 2-man combat engineer demolition team assigned to locate and destroy enemy artillery ordnance and concealed firing devices. After he had expended all of his explosives and blasting caps, Pfc. Phipps discovered a 175mm high explosive artillery round in a rice paddy.

Suspecting that the enemy had attached the artillery round to a secondary explosive device, he warned other marines in the area to move to covered positions and prepared to destroy the round with a hand grenade. As he was attaching the hand grenade to a stake beside the artillery round, the fuse of the enemy's secondary explosive device ignited.

Realizing that his assistant and the platoon commander were both within a few meters of him and that the imminent explosion could kill all 3 men, Pfc. Phipps grasped the hand grenade to his chest and dived forward to cover the enemy's explosive and the artillery round with his body, thereby shielding his companions from the detonation while absorbing the full and tremendous impact with his body.

Pfc. Phipps' indomitable courage, inspiring initiative, and selfless devotion to duty saved the lives of 2 marines and upheld the highest traditions of the Marine Corps and the U.S. Naval Service.

He gallantly gave his life for his country .

================================================================

In Vietnam there were 246 Medal of Honor Receipents, 154 posthumously.

Editor’s note, Do not be fooled by the last line in the citation, PFC Phipps was probably not thinking about giving his life for his country, out of love and concern for his comrades next to him he gave his life.

Jesus Words
From the Gospel ofJohn Chapter 15:
8  This is to my Father's glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples.

9  "As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Now remain in my love.

10   If you obey my commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have obeyed my Father's commands and remain in his love.
11   I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete.
12   My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you.
13   Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends.
14   You are my friends if you do what I command.
15   I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master's business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you.
16   You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you to go and bear fruit--fruit that will last. Then the Father will give you whatever you ask in my name.
17   This is my command: Love each other.

Thank be to God

Our Godly Relationship?

11 Behaviors God Desires
            for YOUR Relationship with HIM

 1. Our Realization of our sinfulness
       and
       our Need for His Forgiveness
       of our Sins.

 2. Our Absolute belief that Jesus
is the one True Son of God
       is our Lord... AND
       the source of
our Salvation and Grace of God.

 3. Our Acceptance of the Holy Spirit.
as our Strength and Comforter and
          our daily Guide throughout Life.

 4. Our Earnestness in our Worship, Praise, Trust,
           and Adoration of Him. (*4)

 5. Our Continuing Gratitude for all He Does for us Daily.

 6. Our Humble Unending Prayers and Devotion
throughout each day He gives us.
                   This changes your life!

 7. Our Righteous Integrity by Living only through Him daily.

 8. Our Selfless Humble Service for Him
to build His Kingdom on this earth.

 9. Our Unending Love for Him and for others.

10. Our Clear Vision that He is our Refuge and Strength.

11. Our Genuine Desire for us to live in His Desires for us.

How is your Relationship building?  Who do you trust the most
in your daily decisions, Yourself and your ego or God and His Way?
Do you pray for guidance or depend to much on yourself?

Martin Luther during the Reformation in the 1500's would not condone anyone to draw a sword to defend the Word of God.  He knew God's word was powerful enough to defend itself.  It was all about Faith for and Trust in Him.
As with Luther,
Trusting God inherently demonstrates our faith.

Have Trust in God and let the Word of God protect you from the world around you.  Just as a tree has it's bark for protection so to, we have the Word of God to protect us.  Jesus gave us the Perfect Example of this in the Temptation Stories.  He fought the devil by quoting scripture!  To do that, we must first learn scripture!

To Have the Holy Spirit in your Heart,
you must pray, and pray, and pray.....
everyday.
Through your humble prayers,
often, and every day,
we show our Trust in God.
God demonstrates He is Faithful to us,
what we need most,
what He perhaps truly desires most from us,
is to always and continuously Trust in His Faithfulness!
As with Luther, Trust demonstrates our faith.
Our Faith- It is our Relationship with
God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit.

Thanks be to God

The Joys of the Cocoons We Live In

The Joys of the Cocoons We Live In

"For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him may not perish but may have eternal life.

The women were terrified and bowed their faces to the ground, but the men said to them, "Why do you look for the living among the dead? He is not here, but has risen.

We like our lives
We like:      Our Circle of friends
                    Our beliefs
Our problems, yes, often even our problems.
Our desire for the way things are.
Far too long and too often what it is we really like is
                   Our Cocoons We Live In.

We all have a ‘zone of comfort’ around us, a cocoon that many of us do not want to leave or venture from unless it seems safe for us.  In us, we know there is a better life, if we just had the courage to go find it.  Consider this example of an unborn baby.

For an unborn baby, all the life that it knows, it has been surrounded by a warm bed, all the food it needs, seemingly no unfulfilled needs; but, in time it knows there is something on the other side and likely, it desires to know what is beyond its confines.  It hears things soothing and some things perhaps scary. It wants to grow despite its cramped living quarters; it wants to grow but is confined; it wants to grow but also likes where it is.  And, it is so much easier just to accept where it is.  It knows the other side, the other life is different, a new world is there!  Perhaps the baby is just content with where it is.  It is content with its discontent of being and existing in its limiting Cocoon.  It is all it knows.

For most of us, we feel OK in our cocoon:

We want more out of life, but do not want to leave our cocoon to change it.

We desire life-to-the-fullest but we do the same old failed behaviors trying to reach it and achieve new results.

We want newness in our lives, but not change.

We may want more friends but shut out people different from ourselves.

We dream dreams, but turn away at new opportunities.

Trapped by our own choice, we strangely accept our “freedom” in our cocoon, but are we really free?  Oh, we move freely around in our comfortable cocoon, but we are often restrained by fear.  Fear of real freedom if we venture forth, fear of failing in trying something new, we are restrained by “What will others think!”  Far too often “freedom” is just another word for the comfort we feel in the small life we have...in our cocoon.

Real freedom comes in by giving up our lives as we know it, moving forward, and trusting something beyond ourselves.  When you truly give your life to Christ, completely and totally, then in your daily living, life will change.

Have you ever thought that maybe the cocoon you live in is a quiet way you rebel against God?  Not living as God wants us to is rebellion against Him and leads to self-centered interest and general dissatisfaction with life.

If you are unsatisfied with the way things are in your life
here are

Four behaviors to break out of our self-made cocoon:

1.     Live your life daily in the example of Christ!
2.     Pray and pray and pray every day!
3.     Study, absorb and live God’s Word,
4.     Find people to share your Godly faith.
The Promise of Jesus is that when we accept Him as the Lord of our life, the Holy Spirit will come upon you and build your Faith in God to even Higher Ground and bring you peace.

Be of good courage, step out and do something new, exciting, maybe, even spectacular for Jesus.

You will be blessed by the Holy Spirit,
Live to never be satisfied with life in your own cocoon.

Jesus left His cocoon come to us, show us, and live with us, all because He loves us;
     we serve a Risen Lord!

Thanks be to God.

Prologue

This is the only writing on this website that is not authored by me.  This was written by a Facebook friend and published by her on Mother's Day 2013.  This touched me to the very innermost of my being that I ask Debbie for permission to publish this here.  You will find Joy and Promise in her permission.

My mother died in February 2012 and
as a Christian this speaks to the very heart of the Promise of our Faith in Jesus.

Thanks Be to God

Weep For Me No More (c)
      by Debbie J. Elkins Owens

Don’t weep for me, for I will not hear you.
Don’t wish me back, for I would not come.

I am in a glorious place now, with my heavenly family.
I see my Savior, His love is unexplainable

I see my parents, and
I see my loved ones that have gone on before.

There is no more darkness, no more fear, and no more pain.

I see streets of gold, and colors that can not be described.

I am here. I am here.
So please cry no more tears for me.
You will see me again.

Comfort yourself in the family that I have left behind.
Remember the love that I have left in each of you.

Put your trust in the Father who made you.
His love is never ending.
We will be together again.
